General

Scope

IBMS 10 maintains the tradition of excellence and spirit of the International Biofluid and Mechanobiology Symposia series to serve as a platform for sharing recent milestones and achievements in the application of biophysics and bioengineering to medicine and biology, including experimental and computational advances; cross-scale advances from molecules and cells to organs; and translation of basic science into medical procedures and devices.

Objectives

IBMS 10 aims to advance the application of biophysics and bioengineering to medicine and biology by gathering leading and emerging scientists, clinicians, and practitioners from around the world to assess the latest frontiers of biofluidics and mechanobiology, and to set important directions for further research, development, and education. The symposium will provide an opportunity for investigators to interact with diverse peers, junior and senior, for development of new collaborations, as well as enhancement of existing ones. We expect to offer travel fellowships for junior investigators, especially members of traditionally under-represented groups.

Topics (but not limited)

Patient-specific biomechanics models; Multiscale simulations; Biological fluid mechanics, including cardiovascular, ocular, respiratory, reproductive, lymphatic, and cerebrospinal flows; Fluid-structure interactions, including swimming of organisms; Tissue engineering, including multiscale and regenerative biomechanics and mechanobiology; Organ-on-chip and microfluidic models; Mechano-transduction, adaptation, memory, and intelligence; Imaging, computational, deep learning and systems biology methods in biomechanics and mechanobiology; Medical implants and devices; Clinical applications, Bio-inspired applications, Translational.
